November 22nd 2010, Kenya Tobacco Alliance (KETCA) Action group on
Public Education held a meeting that aimed at reviewing their work for the past
one year. Earlier on, KETCA sponsored some member organizations in different
towns in the country to conduct public education campaigns.
Organizations which took part were: Youth Education Network (YEN) in Sori,
South Nyanza, Socialneeds Network
– Kisumu, Tobacco-Alcohol Free Initiative (TAFI) -Eldoret, Centre For
Tobacco-Free Education and Development (CETFED) -Nairobi, Lifeline Foundation
(LIF) – Nairobi, Social Liberation Health and Promotion (SLHAP) Club-Kakamega,
Women for Justice in Africa- Nairobi, Goinghomedotcom-Nairobi.
Activities included media interviews, performance art e.g drama and
skits, poems, dances, music, speeches, sports and e.t.c all aimed at
controlling tobacco and creating awareness on the dangers of tobacco. |
